Here is one source of heat for us, our wood burning stove. We also have a kerosene space heater and electric base board heaters. 
Since we have been here we have learned the term "cord of wood", at least it was new to me.
We had one delivered the other day and the kids had fun climbing on it.
David was out of town when we got the wood so the kids and I had fun stacking it. It was starting to get dark and colder so it turned into just me after awhile.

Matt grew up with wood burning stoves, those suckers can put out some serious heat! His Mom and Dad still love them!
I want a wood stove insert for our fireplace. Yours looks big.
we had half a cord delivered right before Thanksgiving... and we are almost all the way through it! I love fires- so homey and fun! The kids love them too! Happy New Years to your family!
It does put off a lot of heat. I wish it was in a different part of the house so that all the heat doesn't stay in the family room and kitchen. It is a big one. David can pack it with about 5 big logs. We are really enjoying it though. I love the smell of wood burning. Our garage smells so nice with the wood stacked there.
As a kid I remember going and cutting the wood for our wood stove.LOVE IT! All we have now is Gas fire place. I love the smell of wood burning. Do you put a kettle on yours to keep moisture in the air? How fun for the kids not so much for you....Have a great New Year.

Oh I forgot about the humidifier thing on the top of the stove, Matt's family has a big dragon that blows the steam out his big nostrils!!
