Nothing special

Today was the first day of Spring break.  We slept in a little but we didn't want to go overboard.  :)  I cut the boys hair.  The kids played outside at the park and rode scooters.  Callie and Carson went to a friends house to play and then came home and hung out with friends in the neighborhood.  Callie stubbed her big toe pretty badly playing games in the dark.  The skin was still on it so it should heal nicely.   It was an all around good day.  Now what to do tomorrow?  I think we'll go hit the Goodwill down the road.

This is Liza's wonderful mascara application.

Pinewood Derby 2011

The Pinewood Derby always seems to catch up on us so George took a sick day from school yesterday to work on it.  He was just gonna do a pick-up truck and then realized a hot wheel car would fit on the back.  The weight of it was an issue now.  We had to shed 1/4 of an ounce from the truck to make the 5ozs. weight max for the cars.  I wittled the bottom of the car for a while to loose that weight.  George worked the scale and we got it to 5ozs.  When we went to weigh it at the church we were over according to their scales.  Lucky some father had brought a drill.  So I went to drilling on the bottom again till we lost that tenth of an ounce it was over.  We made it and George's car did great.  He didn't place but won the "Most Realistic" award.

Spring is here!

Here are some blossoms that Ginger picked off a tree out front.  It is a nice sunny day today.

Today Lucy rode a two-wheeler all by herself.   I'll post a video later.

Magnum!

Remember this.

Well look what I found at our local Safeway store.  A very nice treat.  The ice cream in the middle of these have a vanilla bean ice cream, I don't remember that.  It was still delicious though.

Yum!

A funny

While the 4 older kids were at swimming lessons I decided to run to Costco for Ginger's bday cake. Upon arriving there I realize Liza has a stinky diaper and I have no wipes. Sitting in the car tryng to calm my nerves Lucy says,"Are we just gonna sit here until someone gives us wipes? Is that the plan? Cause I don't think thats a very good plan."

Oh Lucy, life would be so dull without you in it!

Happy Birthday Ginger!

I love this picture of Callie holding little Ginger.

And Ginger always has a smile on her face.

Here is a link with more pictures of her.  And here.

Lucy

Yesterday as we were leaving the YMCA from Lucy and Liza's swimming lessons, Lucy cracked me up again.

Around here, maybe to compete with the famous Seattle Starbucks coffee, there are little drive up coffee shops that cater to the more "adult" clientele or any 5 year old driving by.  One in particular is called "Chick-a-latte" and the girls waiting on one is wearing a bikini.  I never really notice them as I drive by but yesterday there was no car to block the view and the "Chick" was right in front of the window.  As I almost gagged I notice Lucy looking in her direction.

I said, "Lucy, what was that girl wearing?".

She said, "I think she had swimming lessons at the YMCA and drove straight over for work."

Oh, the innocence!  If only I could put my children in a giant bubble.

Yesterday Carson was asking if he could go to an overnight activity at school and my questions started flowing. " What is this for? How much money? Who wants you to go? ....."  There is a classmate of Carson's that wanted him to go and be on his volleyball team.  The activity is a Volleyball-a-thon.  Anyway I started asking questions about this kid by asking "Is he in any of your classes?"

Carson got flustered and said "Mom, he's an okay kid."

Me, "I was just asking if he was in any of your classes."

Carson, "Mom, I don't know how to do a background check."

Callie's basketball moves

Callie was so excited to go into YW this past January which also started the YW basketball season.  We discovered she is a little spitfire on the court.  She missed the first game because she wasn't 12 yet but enjoyed playing in the other 5.  She made a total of 3 baskets which is pretty good for being the shortest player on her team and the other teams.  There are several girls who tower over her by a foot.  She is really good at defense though.  Callie has no problem getting in your face.  She still has a lot to learn but is fun to watch.

Still here

Okay, we are still here.  We have had a busy few weeks.  Grammy came to visit and help out.  Then last week we had an unexpected visit from my brother, Curtis, and his family.  They were on their way to Hawaii and got a hop to McChord AFB and wasn't able to get another flight for 3 nights.  It was so good to spend time with them.  It had been almost 2 years since we saw them (Nancy and Kevin's wedding).
Some sad news is that on Saturday night after 5pm to Sunday morning before 11am our car was burglarized.  I had left the car unlocked and who ever it was took a half a bag of jolley ranchers, $15 in a little change purse, and my camera.  Not a fun lesson to learn, but learned.  So all the pictures I had taken with Curtis's family here are gone.  I just don't get it.  The camera is not worth much with out the battery charger that I still have.  Anyway, like David said, "At least the car was still there."

Here are some cute pictures of the girls from my cellphone.
